Surecom EP-808X-R 8 Port 100/10M N-Way Mini Switch Review

This is the second Surecom ethernet product I have bought and they both work without any set up straight out the box. The first was a 5 port EP-505X-T hub. They both have an uplink facility and I have them connected so that the 5 port is an extension from the 8 port. The price of the units is competitive and they seem to me to be well built.
After almost a year of use I have found that severe thunderstorms and associated mains power fluctations can stop the 808X from working correctly. The unit works correctly again after being switched off then on again. These same storms damaged a couple of my PCs as well, so the conditions were exceptional and unlike the 808X the PCs didn't work after the power was restored.
